Sam invited his mother over for dinner. During the meal, his mom noticed how beautiful Sam’s roommate, Ann, was. She thought there may be more between them then sharing the cost of a place. Afterwards, while watching the two, she grew even more suspicious. Reading his moms thoughts, Sam volunteered, ”I know what you’re thinking, but we’re just roommates.” A week later, Ann asked Sam, “You know, since your mom was here, I can’t find the silver gravy ladle. Do you think she took it?” Sam said, “I doubt it, but I’ll write her a letter just to be sure.” So he sat down and wrote, “Dear Mom, I’m not saying you ‘did’ take a gravy ladle from my house, and I’m not saying you ‘didn’t’ take it, but one has been missing ever since you were here for dinner.” Several days later, Sam got a letter from his mother which read, “Dear Son, I’m not saying that you ‘do’ sleep with Ann, and I’m not saying that you ‘don’t’. But if she was sleeping in her own bed, she would have found the ladle by now. Love, Mom.”
When it comes to the most famous couple in Hollywood, Brad Pitt and Angela Jolie, they “have been” and are not ashamed of it. Both are in total agreement with the new morality (pre-marital, pro-choice, same-sex, gay marriage, etc.) and have even participated in certain aspects of it. And so as you’d expect, they’re also strong backers of Barack Obama and the Democrat Party. “Bradgelina” have headlined several fund-raisers with their fellow liberal ‘stars, and together contributed millions to the President’s re-election coffers.
But this month its been another family member who has been in the spotlight. Jane Pitt, Brad’s mother, wrote a letter to the editor of her local city newspaper in which she let it be known, in no-uncertain terms, that as a born-again believer she will not be voting for a President who supports the killing of unborn babies and the destruction of traditional marriage. News of the opposing views of the mother of Brad Pitt went around the world and even resulted in death threats against her life. Mrs. Pitt has since gone into hiding. When Angelina Jolie’s father, actor Jon Voight, heard about the letter, he chimed in, “Good for her (Jane), I support everything she wrote.”
I mention all this because Brad Pitt is another in a line of famous people (Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Gladys Knight, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Miley Cyrus, etc.) who were raised in a Bible-believing church but turned their back on the Lord because they found the demands of the Gospel too restrictive when it came to the things of this world. In Brad Pitt’s case, he grew up in a very conservative Baptist family, attended Sunday School for years, went to VBS every summer, and even sang in the youth choir. And his parents still attend the same good church, where his father is a long-time deacon and his mother is a ministry-secretary.
Oh to be a fly on the wall when Bradgelina and their parents sit down for Sunday dinner in that big French castle the young couple just bought!
