Christmas Or Easter
If you were to ask people what is the most wonderful time of the year, they would say Christmas. There’s even a holiday song with that title:
“It’s the most wonderful time of the year – with the kids jingle-belling and everyone telling you be of good cheer – it’s the most wonderful time of the year.”
“It’s the hap-happiest season of all – with those holiday greetings and great happy meetings when friends
come – it’s the hap-happiest season of all”
However, if you were to ask God what is the most wonderful time of the year, His answer would not be Christmas, but Easter. Let me show you from His Word.
Prophets (Before Jesus’s Time) – There are 37 specific Old Testament prophecies about the first coming of Jesus Christ. Of those prophecies, only 6 deal with Christmas, but 21 deal with Easter.
Gospels (During Jesus’s Time) – The gospels contain 89 chapters. Of those 89 chapters, there are 4 that deal with Christmas, but 32 that deal with Easter. Two gospel writers, Mark and John, don’t even mention Christmas.
Epistles (After Jesus’s Time) – In Acts, there are seven great sermons preached to the people and in the Epistles 22 wonderful letters written to the churches. Neither of them mention Christmas but all of them mention Easter.
So today’s the most wonderful time of the year. Let’s look like it! Let’s sing like it! And let’s eat like it!
